The biggest Lithuanian energy company expands in Poland
The Lithuanian state capital energy company group Lietuvos Energija moves forward with implementation group strategy LE 2030 by becoming prominent market player in Poland during the next two years. The group made strategic decision a step further and appointed a Regional manager for Poland in October. This position will be held by Ms. Diana Kazakevič, previously Director of the Business Development Department of one of the group’s companies Energijos Tiekimas.

Smart Energy Fund Invests EUR 250 Thousand into Lithuanian PVcase
Smart Energy Fund powered by Lietuvos Energija, managed by Contrarian Ventures invests EUR 250 thousand into the Lithuanian PVcase that will automate the designing of solar power plants. It is expected that the technology developed by the start-up will enable to significantly shorten up some designing stages of solar power plants and this way reduce designing expenses even more.

Lithuanians have an idea how to reduce crypto mining costs
During the largest non-profit ICT and entrepreneurship event in the Baltic States #SWITCH held in Vilnius, winners of the Smart Energy Hackathon organized by Lietuvos Energija, the energy companies group of Lithuania, were elected. The main prize, EUR 1,500 in the selected cryptocurrency, was awarded to the team that created a platform prototype which is intended for cryptocurrency mining based on the sharing principle. The suggested platform model in each case would enable to find the most suitable place in the world to install computer equipment and to organize cryptocurrency mining for the lowest energy price on that date.

New investment of Smart Energy Fund to Fusebox will help electricity consumers to become active participants in the market
Smart Energy Fund powered by Lietuvos Energija, managed by Contrarian Ventures, and FuseBox OÜ an independent demand response aggregator in Baltics have closed a pre-seed round. The Estonian start-up received a EUR 50,000 investment. It is expected that the platform which is currently being developed by the start-up will enable electricity consumers to become active market participants contributing to the network balancing process. It is also expected to help ensure competitive electricity prices at peak use times.

Lietuvos Energija Acquired Three Wind Farms
The state-owned energy enterprise Lietuvos Energija is further expanding the capacities of renewable energy generation. The company concluded two share sale-purchase agreements to acquire a portfolio of three operating  wind farms in Lithuania, with total capacity of 34 megawatts (MW). This acquisition will increase Group’s portfolio of green generation assets and contribute to implementation of the Group’s strategy.

Successful second issue of green bonds: borrowed at lower cost than last year
Lietuvos Energija has successfully distributed the second EUR 300 million issue of green bonds. The bonds have been acquired by 115 investors from 22 countries and the demand for the bonds outstripped the supply 4 times – investors were willing to lend EUR 1.1 billion to Lietuvos Energija. This year Lietuvos Energija successfully distributed the issue at lower cost than last year despite the fact that market conditions were less favourable this year – the yield of 10-year maturity bonds is 2.066 per cent, which is less than 2.193 per cent in 2017 when the first 10-year EUR 300 million green bonds were issued.

Lietuvos Energija is preparing for the second issue of green bonds
Following a successfully placed first green bond issue last year, Lietuvos Energija is in the process of preparation for a repeated issue. Today, The Board of Lietuvos Energija approved the increase of the Company’s Euro medium term note programme up to EUR 1.5 bn, the second issue of green bonds, and confirmed an updated base prospectus. A EUR-denominated 300-500 million, 7-12 year senior unsecured non-convertible, with a nominal value being no less than EUR 100 000, green bond offering will be public and launched subject to market conditions. Investor meetings in Europe will commence on 25 June.

Lithuania is in the Focus on Cyber Security Assurance
According to representatives of the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Embassy in Lithuania who visited  Lithuania May 24, all three Baltic countries are working to safeguard the security of their energy infrastructure. The USA is prepared to contribute state-of-the-art technological solutions and tools to strengthen IT systems and ensure cyber security in the region. This was discussed at a meeting involving the participation of the largest in Lithuania Lietuvos Energija Group, electricity transmission system operator Litgrid, Klaipėda Nafta, maintaining a terminal of liquefied natural gas in Klaipėda, and representatives of the Ministries of National Defence, Energy, and Finance, as well as representatives of the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Embassy in Lithuania.

Lietuvos Energija Will Continue the Sale of Data Logistics Center
Lietuvos Energija Group has been informed that after assessing preliminary indications of the Competition Council, Telia Lietuva decided to discontinue the acquisition of Data Logistics Center (DLC) belonging to Lietuvos Energija and Litgrid. Lietuvos Energija adopted a decision to approve the completion of this transaction by terminating the agreement and to renew the sale process of DLC.

Lietuvos Energija increased electricity generation from renewable sources by 21%
The group of state-owned energy companies “Lietuvos Energija” increased volumes of electricity generation from renewable energy sources (RES) in 2017. Last year, RES capacities under the Group’s management produced as much as 21 percent more electricity than in 2016.

In the Good Governance Index – the Highest Rating to Lietuvos Energija
For the fourth year in a row, Lietuvos Energija has been recognised the most progressive state-owned company. In the good governance index of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) published by the Governance Coordination Centre (GCC), Lietuvos Energija was the only one of all SOEs that received the highest A+ rating.
