Brief overview
Lietuvos energija, AB is Lithuania‘s largest electricity generation company, which combines all electricity generation capacities controlled by the State. Company‘s generation portfolio includes Lithuanian Power Plant, Kruonis Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Power Plant and Kaunas Hydroelectric Power Plant. The company is also engaged in electricity trading as well as import and export activities.
In order to carry out its designated functions in a due and efficient manner, the Company is committed to technical and scientific advancement, the continuing professional development of its staff, as well as implementation of innovations in technology and the sciences.
Lietuvos energija, provided 22 % of the state demand for electricity from its plants in 2011.
Results for 2011 are as follows:
- 4. 22 TWh of electricity sold to the internal market (for public suppliers and other independent suppliers);
- 1. 08 TWh of electricity imported from Belarus, Latvia and Estonia;
- 0. 29 TWh of electricity exported to Latvia and Estonia.
(*) The Energy sector is divided into energy production, transmission, distribution and servicing of sector companies, as laid down in the Third Energy Package of the EU.
